NAFE-STYLE ROOF REPAIRABILITY ASSESSMENT

Insurance carriers often prepare estimates for spot repairs or replacement of a limited number of shingles. The issue is whether that repair can actually be performed in the field without causing damage to the surrounding roof materials.

Our repairability assessment is designed to document whether a proposed roof repair is reasonably possible based on the actual field conditions observed at the roof. We inspect and document the surrounding shingles, adhesive seal bonds, nail removal requirements, granule displacement, cracking, creasing, mat transfer, delamination, and whether the repair process itself results in additional direct physical damage to adjacent shingles.

This assessment may be useful when a carrier has paid for a limited roof repair, but the repair cannot be completed without disturbing, separating, tearing, creasing, or damaging surrounding shingles. Our assessment follows industry-recognized repairability testing methods and documents the findings through photographs, field observations, and written analysis.

UNDERSTANDING COLLAPSE CAUSED BY HIDDEN DECAY OR VIBRATION

Collapse damage is not always as simple as a wall, ceiling, roof, or structure completely falling to the ground. In many property claims, collapse may involve a sudden caving in, separation, sagging, displacement, or failure of a building component that can no longer safely support itself.

One of the most important issues in a collapse claim is determining why the structure failed.

Sometimes the damage is connected to hidden decay damage that was not visible or known until the structure was opened, inspected, or partially removed. Hidden decay may involve framing, roof decking, floor joists, wall studs, rafters, sill plates, sheathing, or other structural components concealed behind finished materials.

Lightning can strike unexpectedly, damaging buildings, electronics, and household appliances. Ground surges, the leading of lightning-related claims, can occur even if lightning strikes nearby, resulting in electrical spikes that can disrupt home electrical systems.

The remediation process involves identifying moisture sources, removing contaminated materials, and cleaning the affected areas. Quick action is crucial to prevent mold spread and structural damage, and professional remediation ensures a safe and effective solution. Protect your property and health by addressing mold issues promptly.

TREE FALL ON ROOF

When a tree with a 2-foot diameter falls on a house due to strong winds, it can cause significant structural damage. Weighing between 2,000 and over 10,000 pounds, the tree's impact is concentrated at the point of contact, potentially crushing roofs and compromising walls. If it falls at an angle or gains momentum, the damage can be even worse, risking foundation shifts or roof collapses. Prompt inspections and repairs are essential to ensure the structure’s safety after such an event.

HAIL AND WIND DAMAGE

When hail strikes a roof, it can bruise, fracture, loosen, or displace the protective granules on asphalt shingles. Weather exposure, and water intrusion. Hail can also damage the mat of the shingle, create impact marks, loosen seal bonds, or weaken the roof system over time. Hail damage should be evaluated by more than just counting marks on a roof.
